Gifting for Mother’s Day Is Getting Personal
Show mom you care by putting some thought into a customizable gift
Mother’s Day is coming and we all know the gifts we’re going to get our moms…flowers, her favorite candy, brunch at a fancy restaurant, a bit of jewelry. It’s pretty cliché at this point to even list these as they tend to fall into the categories of gifts that we get our moms for every occasion—not to mention items associated with whatever hobby they may have like gardening, reading, or (if you’re my mom) quilting.
And then there are the cards. We’ve seen them at the local grocery store/CVS/paper store covered with flowers and saccharine platitudes about having the best mom ever that feel even more generic and thoughtless as the list of potential gifts I made above.
Your mom deserves more than that.
The best way to get past both these hurdles and give something that your mom would actually treasure would be to utilize one of the many companies out there that offer custom gift items and personalize something for her. We’ve talked about personalization on The Key Point Blog in the past as a means for getting the best out of customer communication and to draw customers to PSPs, but it’s not just for vendors.
Shutterfly and Snapfish are just two of these businesses that offer personalized gifts for every occasion, but also have pages set up for Mother’s Day. Between them, there are options for customized photo prints, photo books, cards, blankets, pillows, phone cases, mugs, and puzzles. It’s as easy as setting up an account, uploading photos, and then picking the format you want.

There are also plenty of other options for custom gifts that come from textile or industrial printers:
- Bed Bath & Beyond offers a customizable tumbler for Mom’s water, iced coffee, or something stronger (teens are a nightmare, so no judgement).
- Mark & Graham offers several personalized travel items, including luggage and jewelry cases to help her organize your gifts from years past.
- Sporty moms can have a custom jersey made from the MLB website that lets them pick from their favorite team and add their name to the back.
- Lastly, if you have to get her something sweet, you might as well order M&Ms that are printed with Mother’s Day messages along the candy shell instead of just the company’s logo.
Mother’s Day is supposed to be about showing gratitude to a woman who has been one of your biggest supporters, a guide, and someone who loves you unconditionally. Getting her a gift shouldn’t be an obligation and should feel like something special that really shows what she means to you. And if the choice is between a bouquet of grocery store flowers or something that’s been customized for her, then it shouldn’t be that hard of a decision to make.
