WATCH: In Conversation with Scott Maccabe and Larry White of Toshiba

Leadership transition at TABS, post-COVID plan just two of the discussion points

Jun 30, 2021 12:22:28 PM

On June 28, 2021, Toshiba America Business Solutions announced that Scott Maccabe, current Chief Executive Officer and President, will retire—effective June 30, 2021—from Toshiba America Business Solutions. Current Chief Operating Officer Larry White will assume the leadership role on the first day of July. Maccabe will transition to an advisor for Toshiba Tec Corporation, the parent company of TABS.

Maccabe has led TABS since July 2013. He holds the distinction of concurrently serving as CEO and President of the company and Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions for over five years (August 2015 through November 2020), successfully growing TGCS into a global leader in retail store technology. Before joining TABS, Maccabe was Senior Vice President of Toshiba America Electronic Components and General Manager of its storage products business unit, where he oversaw the organization’s performance and led its expansion into new geographies and business segments.

Toshiba’s newly named CEO Larry White—a 25-year Toshiba vet—has held a variety of executive roles since joining TABS in 1996, including Chief Revenue Officer as well as his most recent position as COO. In the latter role, White oversaw strategic planning across Toshiba’s business operations throughout North and South America.

Maccabe, White, and I covered a lot of ground during our conversation, such as Maccabe’s transition to consultant for Toshiba TEC and White’s first 100 days as the leader of TABS. We also talked about the pandemic, its effects on the industry, and how Toshiba will emerge post-COVID (the company’s cloud document management software have enabled a pivot from being a provider of office hardware to a more solutions- and services-based approach that drove TABS throughout the pandemic). How White plans to engage with channels and clients as the organization rolls out new strategies was discussed, too.
