BLI Selects Lexmark Markvision Enterprise as a Winter 2011 Pick Award Winner
Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), the world’s leading independent evaluator of document imaging products and solutions, announced its Winter 2011 “Pick” winners honoring outstanding document imaging software solutions. BLI’s prestigious “Pick” awards acknowledge the top-performing solutions evaluated in BLI's lab during the previous six months. Lexmark’s Markvision Enterprise 1.0 has been selected as Outstanding Network Device Management Solution by the editors at BLI.
“Keeping MFPs and printers operational is critical to worker productivity, but monitoring and managing a fleet of devices can be time consuming,” said BLI Managing Editor Daria Hoffman. “Lexmark Markvision Enterprise takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting devices, allowing help-desk and other IT personnel to quickly see which need attention and letting them correct problems remotely.”
All-New Platform Takes a Different Tack
Lexmark Markvision Enterprise is a free, browser-based utility that lets IT departments monitor the status of networked printers and MFPs, regardless of manufacturer. For Lexmark devices, IT and help-desk personnel can monitor as well as manage device settings, deploy firmware and embedded MFP applications, and see and interact with a device’s operator panel—all remotely from within Markvision.
“The nearly effortless installation and setup, plus the program’s novel yet intuitive Web search paradigm for grouping devices, makes Markvision Enterprise the most easy-to-use device management utility BLI has tested to date,” said Jamie Bsales, senior product editor for solutions at BLI. “In addition, the unique roles-based approach allows IT personnel to easily drill down to the data and tasks they need.”
“Enhancing our device management software has enabled Lexmark to deliver a solution that’s more intuitive to use and with greater scalability to the meet the needs of any IT department, whether it involves managing hundreds or thousands of networked printing devices,” said Marty Canning, Lexmark executive vice president and president of Imaging Solutions and Services. “It is an honor to have Lexmark's Markvision Enterprise recognized by BLI as Outstanding Network Device Management Solution.”
About Buyers Laboratory
Since 1961, Buyers Lab has been the leading independent office-equipment testing lab and business consumer advocate. In addition to publishing the industry’s most comprehensive and accurate test reports on office document imaging solutions (www.buyerslab.com/solutions) and devices (www.buyerslab.com), the company has been the leading source for extensive databases of specifications and pricing on solutions, copiers, printers, fax machines and multifunctional products. The company’s databases cover over 13,000 products and have a long-standing reputation for being the industry’s most trustworthy and complete source for global competitive intelligence. They are available to BLI subscribers online via the company's bliQ and bliQ Solutions Center competitive information services. These encyclopedic resources also provide quick and easy access to BLI's First Look Reports, Field Test Reports, Lab Test Reports, Solutions Reports, and BLI-produced articles.
Twice a year with its “Pick” awards, BLI gives special recognition to the hardware and software products that provided the most outstanding performances in BLI’s unique evaluations. Software solutions undergo an in-depth hands-on review that focuses on key attributes for a solution’s target market and compares how well the product stacks up against leading competitors. Pick winners rise above the competition in key areas such as value, feature set, ease of use, ease of administration, hardware compatibility, software integration, security and support. Software solutions earn an overall rating based on a five-star scale, and “Pick” contenders are culled from those that earn the highest ratings. Consequently, a BLI “Pick” is a hard-earned award that buyers and IT directors can trust to better guide them in their acquisition decisions. For MFPs, printers, scanners, wide-format devices and digital duplicators, BLI’s awards stand alone in that they are based on a rigorous battery of lab tests that includes an extensive durability test, which uniquely qualifies BLI to assess reliability, which is a critical factor for buyers and IT directors.
In addition to the testing of office equipment for its subscribers, Buyers Lab provides consulting services to buyers and a vast array of confidential for-hire private testing services that include document imaging device beta and pre-launch testing, performance certification testing, consumables testing (such as toner, ink and photoconductors), software and solutions and print media testing (including virgin and recycled papers).
