HP And Lexmark Honored With Printer "Line Of The Year" Awards

HP AND LEXMARK HONORED WITH PRINTER “LINE OF THE YEAR” AWARDS

December 12, 2008 - Hackensack (NJ) - Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI) is pleased to announce that for 2008, it has given its most prestigious printer awards to Hewlett-Packard Company and Lexmark International, Inc. for “Color Printer Line of the Year” and “Monochrome Printer Line of the Year,” respectively.
 
Awarded once each year, BLI’s “Printer Line of the Year” awards recognize the vendors whose product lines are the best in their respective categories. The selection is made by BLI’s highly experienced staff of technicians and editors after subjecting scores of office printers of all types from every major vendor to BLI’s unique battery of laboratory tests. For a vendor to be in the running for this award, at least one product from the low-, mid- and high-volume categories must have been subjected to laboratory testing. The product lines that clearly stand out against those of other vendors are awarded this prestigious recognition.
 
Among the many factors considered by BLI in selecting line of the year are reliability, overall economy, print quality, ease of use, productivity, administrative utilities and feedback to user workstations.
HP Shines For Its Color Product Line
In 2008, the many HP color printers tested by BLI outperformed those of other vendors in several key areas, earning HP BLI's “Color Printer Line of the Year” award. “HP offers an extensive color product line—from business-class inkjets and personal color laser printers to tabloid-size workgroup models,” said BLI Senior Printer Analyst Marlene Orr. “All five of the color printers from HP that we tested in 2008 performed extremely well in our testing, excelling in many of the categories evaluated. They are also easy to set up, use and manage on the network thanks to Web Jetadmin and HP Easy Printer Care.”
 
BLI Test Technician Joe Ellerman added, “A big plus is that many of HP’s color printers include color access controls that make it easy for administrators to monitor and limit the type and amount of color output allowed from network printers, making them a cost-effective choice for color deployment.”

Lexmark Sweeps The Monochrome Printer Category
For consistently high marks for ease of use, thorough administrative utilities and exceptional overall performance in BLI's testing, Lexmark's monochrome printers are the obvious choice for “Monochrome Printer Line of the Year.” This marks the second time since 2005 that Lexmark has received this honor. “For several years, Lexmark’s monochrome printers have performed admirably in our lab testing, offering excellent reliability, productivity and commendable image quality,” said BLI’s Orr. “We also like the flexibility of walk-up printing from a USB flash drive at the control panel.”
