Line of the Year

Lexmark And Ricoh Honored With BLI's Printer "Line Of The Year" Awards

Fall 2006

December 6, 2006 - Hackensack (NJ) - Buyers Laboratory Inc (BLI) is pleased to announce that for 2006, the recipients of its most prestigious printer "Pick" awards are Lexmark International, Inc. and Ricoh Corporation.
Presented once each year, BLI's "Outstanding Printer Line of the Year" awards recognize the vendors whose product lines have proven to be the best in their respective categories. The selection is made by BLI's highly experienced staff of test technicians and editors after subjecting scores of office printers of all types (from monochrome and color personal printers to large workgroup and multifunction models) from every major vendor to BLI's unique battery of laboratory tests. Among the many factors considered by BLI in selecting a "Line of the Year" recipient are reliability, overall economy, print quality, ease of use and setup, productivity, administrative utilities and feedback to user workstations. For a vendor to be in the running for these awards, at least one product from its low-, mid- and high-volume categories must have been lab tested by BLI. The product lines that clearly stand out against those of other vendors are awarded this prestigious recognition.
This year, without question, the outstanding performance of their products in their respective categories have earned Lexmark and Ricoh the following awards:

Most Outstanding Monochrome MFP Printer Line, 2006

Most Outstanding Color Printer Line, 2006
(also includes Gestetner, Lanier and Savin)

Lexmark Sweeps The Monochrome MFP Printer Category
For consistently high marks in virtually all areas of BLI's testing, Lexmark's monochrome multifunction printers were the clear choice for "Most Outstanding Monochrome MFP Printer Line" for 2006. In commenting on their impressive performance, BLI Senior Test Technician Tony Maceri stated, "Lexmark's monochrome multifunction printers consistently perform well in our lab testing. These devices offer great reliability and productivity, but even better than that, they are very easy to use, with their full-color back-lit display, which allows users to easily program functions and view help messages." Like other recently introduced Lexmark products, the company's new multifunction models have a convenient USB port that allows walk-up users to print files directly from a USB flash drive. In addition, they provide an impressive array of standard security features.
"Lexmark's entire line up of monochrome multifunction products was refreshed in 2006, giving customers in both small offices and large enterprises access to leading-edge multifunction technology to help increase productivity and reduce costs," said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. "This award demonstrates Lexmark's position as a technology leader in the printing industry."
Ricoh Captures Color Award For The Second Time
For the second consecutive year, the many Ricoh color printers tested by BLI outperformed those of other vendors in several key areas, earning Ricoh BLI's "Outstanding Color Printer Line of the Year" award. BLI Senior Printer Analyst Marlene Orr noted, "A truly amazing achievement, Ricoh has taken top honors for its color printers two years running. Ricoh offers printers in every category of the color market that are designed to meet the diverse needs of business users. These printers are easy to use, set up and manage on the network, thanks to Ricoh's outstanding utilities. And Ricoh color printers not only offer high toner and ink yields, which translate to decreased downtime and low cost per page, but they offer robust paper-handling capabilities."
"Everyone at Ricoh is honored to receive this recognition for the second year in a row. The 'Color Printer Line of the Year' award signifies Ricoh's leadership position in the color printer category," said Ron Potesky, vice president, Corporate Marketing for Ricoh Corporation. "Ricoh will continue to develop and provide innovative and quality products that our customers demand."
