Keypoint Intelligence - Buyers Lab Unveils PaceSetter Award Winners for the Higher Education Market
Fairfield, NJ – Keypoint Intelligence - Buyers Lab (BLI), the world’s leading independent evaluator of document imaging software, hardware, and services, today announced the winners of its BLI PaceSetter awards in the Higher Education arena. These awards recognize the document imaging OEMs that offer the most impressive portfolios of hardware devices, software solutions, and technical and professional services for Education customers in the college/university market segment.
The winners for 2019–2020, based on research conducted for the North American market, are:
CANON U.S.A., INC.
KONICA MINOLTA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS U.S.A., INC.
“Colleges and universities are expected to deliver much more than classroom education,” said Jamie Bsales, Director of Solutions Analysis at Keypoint Intelligence. “These institutions need to prepare students for the wider world beyond, which means immersing them in experiences and technologies at every opportunity. Every vendor needs to be a partner that supports these initiatives, and our PaceSetter winners have proven they can be exactly that.”
For this study, Keypoint Intelligence invited all leading document imaging OEMs to complete an exhaustive questionnaire detailing their education-relevant offerings in key areas including hardware and software portfolios, service and support offerings, professional services capabilities, security offerings in the space, and demonstrated market leadership. OEMs that opted to participate were also asked to make key personnel available for in-depth interviews with the Keypoint Intelligence analyst team to give a more complete picture of their strategies for the education market. After gathering all the data, the analysts used a proprietary rating scale to calculate point totals in the areas evaluated.
“Canon brings much more to the table than just world-class document imaging equipment, which of course it has in spades,” noted Bsales. “Beyond its imageRUNNER ADVANCE, imageCLASS, and production print equipment, the company can furnish both its award-winning still and video camera equipment to university sports programs and art departments. It also offers proven and wide-ranging facilities management services, which help colleges and universities in areas like mailroom management, intra- and inter-campus transport, and more. And all of Canon’s abilities are supported by a Higher Education Advisory Team to uncover sector-specific needs, as well as guide value-added initiatives to meet those needs.”
In the analysis, Konica Minolta stood out not only for its document imaging hardware and software portfolios, but also for the wide range of education-specific IT capabilities (including IT infrastructure assessments and deployments) delivered through its All Covered services division. The company also leverages all corners of its parent company’s vast portfolio to expand students’ horizons—literally: Its Telescope Live program gives students access to the images generated by Konica-quipped telescopes around the globe, while its Double2 Robot technology supports remote learning initiatives. “In addition to all these strengths, Konica Minolta further impressed us with its CampusWatch security offerings that address the all-important and multifaceted physical security needs of colleges today,” said Bsales. “By combining Mobotix intelligent security cameras, visitor-management kiosks, classroom door barriers, and the ability to have them all work in concert, Konica Minolta can bring some peace of mind to educators, students and their families.”
